WILL BANS: The Author Will Bans, or Willie, as his byline says, has practiced journalism since his first semester at San Diego State University. He won numerous awards for his work at The Daily Aztec, the on-campus newspaper, and landed prestigious internships. He graduated in 2008, interned in New York covering the New York Yankees for MLB.com, and then worked for the Odessa (Texas) American as a sports reporter. He left the newspaper business in late 2009 but continued to freelance and launched Our Once Upon A Time in Spring 2010. Throughout his journalism career, Will’s favorite stories have been human-interest stories, ones he writes from his heart, aimed straight at the reader’s heart. CASSIE FORRINGTON: The Designer Cassie is a born creative, which is evident in everything she does. As a professional graphic designer, she has worked in-house, in-studio, and has freelanced. Her work has been recognized by the AIGA as "innovative", and she has received numerous awards from associations such as the Society of Professional Journalists and the California Collegiate Media Awards. She met Willie while working as Asst. Art Director at The Daily Aztec — recognized as the best-designed collegiate newspaper in California during her time there — and they developed a close working relationship and strong friendship. She worked in the wedding industry for 2 years, designing ads for vendors and gaining valuable exposure to a variety of wedding styles. Her calligraphic flair and elegant style bring sophistication and class to whatever she designs, be it a classic wedding style or a new, innovative look.
